What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up!
Chong Wai Leng

My mother was giving the girls a lecture about choosing the right career. She told them what she had told me when I was their age:

"You must choose to do something that is useful to society, like teaching (like my dad) or nursing (like her) so that all the good deeds you have accumulated in helping people will bring happiness to you at the end."

So after going on a fair bit about the virtues of these two professions, she asked Amrita, what she wanted to be. And her answer nearly threw her off the chair she was sitting in.

"Singing", Amrita uttered.

......................................

Enjoy the singing and the whole episode HERE.

Bringing Up Sons
Chong Wai Leng

Ever wondered why there are so many dysfunctional families today? Just take a look at some of these examples:

Sandy has been under tremendous stress since she had children. Her husband did not allow her to work but did not give her sufficient money to spend on the family. He does not like it whenever she goes back to her mother's house with the children. There are frequent fights between them and it is taking a toll on the children. What she needs is to be financially independent and to do what she thinks is right for herself and her children. What he needs to do is to respect his wife and to trust her to do what is best for the children. If only they can come to a compromise, the children would not have to suffer.

Bye-bye 2007, Hello 2008

Bye-bye 2007, hello 2008!

What are your thoughts and aspirations for the new year? Here are some of mine....

A New Year Resolution - get those kids buckled-up!
K V Soon

Driving to Ipoh a couple of weeks back, I encountered (as usual) the many impatient tailgaters who came within inches of my car and the occasional zig-zaggers who could not wait for me to move to a slower lane. This people gets me really angry at times. But really makes me mad are the driver who are ferrying their families! I have observed that many of these impatient drivers were carrying their families - with children in the car! Yes, children in the car! The children were not restrained and not buckled-up.

Happiness And Simplicity
Chong Wai Leng

To live a stress-free life amidst the fast-paced and “jam-packed-with- activities” life that we normally live would seem rather out of the ordinary and even impossible to many. But if we could sit down a moment and think about it, we would come to the conclusion that is probably the most sensible thing to do for ourselves and for our family.
